The tomato plant has been moved indoors. It is in the kitchen now and hopefully those little tomatoes can keep growing now they are more sheltered. I am determined to make myself a bloody salad this autumn (and as I have to walk sideways in that kitchen now, they better be worth it.)
What gave me hope was that the suicidal tomato has been changing colours. I just left it on the windowsill and, much to my amazement (and the amusement of friends who came over for dinner), it is red now. I was informed that of course it has ripened; same thing that happens with fruit and veg you buy a bit on the green side at the shops. Those have also been picked prior to their ideal consumption time and keep ripening while on the move in their crates, at the greengrocer's, at home in my fruit bowl. Do'h. Stupid ninja.
Anyway... The mini tomato saga continues. Watch this space (should you be into this sort of nonsensical waste of your time, that is.) Ta.
I like the little tomato!
ReplyDeleteI checked out the link you posted me on my blog! That is cool! Sky High. :) That's the name of one of Dad's songs too!
Sky
Did you bring your tomato plant into the kitchen so that it would be closer to your salad bowl:)?
ReplyDeleteLa pazienza e' la virtu' dei forti, hope you can dine on tomatoes soon!
It's a very exiting tomato saga ... that white porcelain thing serving as a pedestal for 1 tomato looks interesting :)
ReplyDeletesuerte con los tomates! me encanta la saga!
ReplyDeleteI like this tomato tale. I repaired an oversight and now, you're in my "blogfriends" ;)
ReplyDeleteMe encanta cómo escribes. Y me rio mucho.
ReplyDeleteyo que me pensaba que el famoso tomate ya se había suicidao varias veces...
xxx!
Ta!
ReplyDelete(ma,
ta...)
yes they will get red even after picked :)
ReplyDeleteoh boy
may you get your salad after all
good luck with the tomato project!! :)
ReplyDeletethank you, tomato lovers, the salad IS in the making. those tomatos WILL ripen. I SHALL prevail. :)
All I can say is yum! I love them on toast with a little mayo and salt and pepper.
ReplyDeletei like the tomato "perch" where did you get that!? happy ripening! it will happen. promise!
ReplyDeleteoh a p.s. thanks for your "riposte" last week. one of my faves...boutros boutros BOUTROS galli!
oh yeah, that "thing" the little tom is perched on is a fabulous vase I got as a present last xmas. every "tube" can hold a single flower (or a couple).
ReplyDeleteI'm very happy with it but it's a bastard to clean/fill/refill, though ;)
that vase keeps tricking my eye! the tubes look like they are moving!
ReplyDeletethat's just because you start drinking too early, man. give it a few hours of sobriety in the morning and you'll see how things get rather less wobbly less quickly.
ReplyDeleteThey seem like a Willy Wonka creation....a huge tomato taste packed in a very small package!
