Let's not mention I have been an elusive ninja, should we? Let's not point out Easter has been colder than Christmas this year (meteorological fact), should we? Let's also ignore the fact I am home feeling bleh the moment we have four days off and the sun is gloriously shining out there (icy cold but shiny and bright). Should we ignore that too?
Okay then. Let's just talk LIGHT. Yes. Welcome, welcome, we have missed you. Are you here to stay? Are you? Splendid.

Here are a few random snippets of light and reflections taken in the last couple of weeks. Even subway stations are beautiful right now.

The city looking gorgeous under a blanket of snow is what we found after coming out of an all-day concert for little-known bands. Very strange this being at a gig marathon while there is light outside.

Beautiful but tricky snow. I ended up slipping on the snow/ice and landing on my derrière bike and all. Tail bone pain is not good, I am telling you. Clumsy ninja :)

Hello. Let's try and keep this thing going, should we? By this royal "we" I obviously mean me.

It is winter. Properly. You all know. The interwebs are full of it. 

This post is far from original. Yet, I love this unedited winter telephotos. What I also really enjoyed very much was the calm muffled city bustle when I left the house early this morning.

Barcelona airport exactly a week ago (to the minute).

Cloud formations, aeroplane trails, the moon (day and night!), planet and balloon alignments  (Jupiter and Venus on Sunday evening + a fab tile card (I have yet to credit, watch this space.)

Finally some icy pics. Hoorah. I was planning on posting them much earlier (they were taken a fortnight ago) but hey, ninja time flies.

Will you look at the shadows everyone is casting (on a frozen solid canal!) It was gorgeous. Overexposed and unedited telephotony does not do it justice.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

It was just a quick snap moment from this privileged vantage point (not my apartment). I love the sound of klunen (walking on skates off the ice) on the city cobblestones.
We also stayed well clear of the winter wonderland circus that formed in the city centre and headed to the North of Amsterdam. Following pics taken around/on the Ij.

Taken on Sunday, Tuesday and Wednesday respectively. The whole city is on melting mode. I expect "my" canal will be totally defrosted by tonight. A council boat sailed along breaking the ice early this morning plus the forecast is lots of rain.

While the whole of Amsterdam has already posted millions of pictures of ice madness, I shall be posting mine somewhere later this week. However, here is a video to give you an idea of what it has been like (taken from the Interwebs, I have nothing to do with any copyright issues it may or may not infringe).

P.S. Free interpretation of the cv theme, I know. I am not very wedding-friendly, but I'll try not to be too horrible on all your wedding posts. Honest. Ninja word.
