Taken on Sunday, Tuesday and Wednesday respectively. The whole city is on melting mode. I expect "my" canal will be totally defrosted by tonight. A council boat sailed along breaking the ice early this morning plus the forecast is lots of rain.
While the whole of Amsterdam has already posted millions of pictures of ice madness, I shall be posting mine somewhere later this week. However, here is a video to give you an idea of what it has been like (taken from the Interwebs, I have nothing to do with any copyright issues it may or may not infringe).
P.S. Free interpretation of the cv theme, I know. I am not very wedding-friendly, but I'll try not to be too horrible on all your wedding posts. Honest. Ninja word.
fun! i wish i could have been there!!

ReplyDeleteWho needs weddings when you can ice skate on canals?
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like our winter, freeze, melt, rinse, repeat.
ReplyDeleteWe have a canal in Ottawa that everyone's skates on in winter, and a big winter celebration there.
i notice we think alike on this one, out of necessity perhaps, but hey!

Just got back from Amsterdam- we loved it! Awesome city. Beautiful, cultured, great food, bier! Wish we could have stayed longer. The snow melted on the second day and my friend's apartment got flooded in the kitchen and lounge room. It was like water torture with constant dripping all night! We went skating at Museumplein but it was raining and therefore crazy slippery. Hubs did some speed skating but I just tried not to fall on my ass. xx
