if only...

... one did not forget.
Those last two. Bloody hell, so highly applicable.

Fab illustration by Wendy MacNaughton.

hindsight

A print I bought as a present a few years ago and still love every time I see it hanging on the wall, which is often. (Print by Keep Calm Gallery)

More hindsight -or not, at today's cv. Rest of entries to be found at fuoriborgo.
(I am a very fickle participant... Just stating a fact :)

ch-ch-ch-chaaaaanges

Easy option. I am aware of it.
I had lots of ideas/photos to share. However, it is both late plus I am tired and do not want to go into trite territory (bound to happen, I am telling you.)
Therefore, easy option. Here you have young David.

I thought of him for obvious reasons but also because, just yesterday, I came across some fabulous, fabulous ilustration of another one of his hits by Andrew Kolb. You can download it for free on his website http://kolbisneat.com/spaceoddity.htm.
I am perfectly enamoured with the concept and result. Isn't it just delightfully right?

So, this is my entry for this week's corner view held at Francesca's (Ms. Hostess Extraordinaire), while Jane (Ms. Founder Extraordinaire) is off smelling the flowers, having a cv sabbatical or summat (something to do with bulls and stuff... funny girl that one, if you ask me.)

monty python's international philosophy

Well... that (which, in itself, is more than enough to make my and everyone else's weekend.)
That and the fact I have hung the wash outside to dry, for the second weekend in a row. Major development in favour of everyone's mental health around these here parts. Totally.

bliss

I had to post this. Lots of music here this week, I know. But I've got such a soft place in my heart for this lot.

PJ's new album is out too -I am on the verge of imploding with musical joy this week, but I shall contain myself and not post any more videos.

stinking cold 1 - fab documentary 0

I just realised I have missed the screening in Amsterdam of Feist's "Look at What the Light Did Know" this evening. All because of the silly cold and the sensible staying home policy. Boo hoo. I was really looking forward to watching it. Oh well...

Luckily, though, I managed to get tickets for Spike Lee's talk next month. Result.

stories-within-stories-within-stories-within-stories

Infinite regress.
Photographer capturing subject watching photographer capturing subject watching....
Infinite voyeurism.

a storm in a teacup

If only all storms in a teacup were this pretty.
My own totally-blown-out-of-proportion-private-dramas also tend to involve blueness and static discharge. Nonetheless, they're not half as beautiful or delicate as this one below. If only...

Description

I've just seen there is a British version too. However, a tad biased as I am, I would totally go (were I able to afford it) for the Royal Delft one.

come sit by my fire

This ninja is off to see (and listen to) this young ladee in a couple of hours. Nice one. Tra la la la.

oh dear

From the very cool cats at work is not a job.

This ninja has been busy elsewhere doing utterly important and meaningful elsewhere-related stuff. However, normal nonsensical activity is expected to resume by... well, soon enough.

cv - someone else's miniature worlds

Why, hello there. Long time, no corner view.
(Okay, I exaggerate. Just a couple of weeks, which, actually, is how it works out best for me. On a fortnightly basis.)

I find this week's theme, miniature worlds, soopa doopa, I have to say. It was chosen by this Missy here and I cannot wait to see what people have come up with.
More here, at Jane's. But, you know the drill...

Right, down to business.
I've been following this guy for a while and I totally adore his work (on the right, on my list of links.) Most of his stories bring a smile to my face, certain ones make me really giggle while, some others are a tad darker, moodier and twisted. However, all in all, I always enjoy them.
They used to be set mostly in London, but these little people have been travelling a bit of lately.
I stumbled into his book being a recommended "read" in a bookshop in my neighbourhood yesterday. That confirmed that rather than wrecking my brains trying to be creative for this cv, I just had to showcase Slinkachu's miniature world here. (Not that he needs showcasing, but hey, you know what I mean.)
So, little people, a tiny street art project, it is.

Those are some of my faves. The last one's "dreary" Barcelona. Ha!

on great tits

Ha. Rather a great tit than a mediocre, say, belly button.
Any day.

Tits by Seb Lester, as seen at Keep Calm Gallery, a great place for great (tits) prints and cards.
I 've bought a couple (of non-booby ones) through them before and I'm really very tempted to get this one as a pressie.

whininja... apparently

I've been told I'm being a bit of a whine lately and, even though that's bloody hard to hear (let alone accept and admit) I've thought about it and it's true. Yes, stress seems to be getting the best of me at times and I don't like it. Apologies to those stuck under my grey cloud.
Reasons why are irrelevant, really. The point is I'm stopping being a misery. Now.
Fingers and toes crossed. Everyone? Ta.

Oh yeah, I cannot really draw but that's me up there. Being stressful. Pulling my hair in a stressful manner (funny arms, I know. I've never been able to draw arms, even at primary school I always had to re-draw all my arms.)
However, I thought I'd put into practice what a certain doodley missy told me about how it is much safer to have things on paper rather than causing havoc inside your head. So there. I thought I'd quickly make a bad self-portrait (to have a look at every time I start being a whinge again). It will, at least, give me laugh seeing those deformed arms.

Also, it reminded me of some beautiful prints by Blanca Gómez (I particularly like her clouds.)
Only in those the ladeez are smiling under the rain. Let's try and aim at that too. Okay, (whi)ninja?
¡Al mal tiempo, buena cara! (And it is pissing it down out there right now. With an effing passion) ;)
UPDATE: To keep my spirits up, it could probably be an idea to use the below too! ;)

a whole new (foot)ball game

¡¡Las pelotas, Cli Cli, las pelotas!!

A few weeks ago I read in passing on a networking site (still believe them to be potentially harmful when not used well) that ex-colleague and creative bird C was asking whether anyone had any punctured balls (!!) lying about. As you do.

When I inquired further she explained she'd gotten inspiration while visiting a jewellery fair and wanted to have a go at making something using old leather footballs herself. Her usual tactic seems to be just popping by her local football club and begging for any balls that are kaput. She also mentioned that they are rather drab, your traditional black and white sort.
At that moment, I thought to myself: "I may know just the person"; a certain someone who works at a small creative agency, outside the city centre, where they play footie during their lunch break. I asked him and, hey presto, colourful balls ahoy!

Miss C has been dying to get her hands on them and was dead excited to hear there was a pink one too! I, myself, find the golden one particularly gorgeous.
Right, Cli Cli, I know you are away on a long weekend and will not read this until you are back. Just wanted to let you know the hand-over has been successful. The ball is rolling. I've passed them on so that you can collect "las pelotitas" next weekend. Hooray!
Cannot wait to see what you create this time!

I love the jewellery C makes with recycled materials. I am the proud owner of one of her bicycle-tyre necklaces. You can visit her at kklak.

Note: Many thanks to the unofficial football supplier, much appreciated (nogmaals bedankt, hoor!) and to the selfless messenger-lady M (¡muchas gracias a ti también, eh, salerosa!).
