whatever tickles your fancy

Currently, my fancy is being seriously tickled by a mix of old and new urban landscapes in Barcelona (mon amour). Here is a little ninja walk.

  9. it's funny how one's homecity becomes just that, mon amour. I was so glad when I left my homescity, but now I miss it, and long to be there!

  10. Don't get me started on my hometown... Let's just say there is no love lost there.

I'm not sure if you did it on purpose or it was a telephotony accident, but I like how the photos are a bit haggard - this emphasizes the patterns in lovely Barcelona.

  12. Additional comment: All lines seem to zigzag. Per perhaps my computer is just very tired. Or my eyes are. Or both.

My hometown is one of those ugly conglomerate "city villages" near Amsterdam.

  13. Ninja, we gotta stop meeting like this ;-)

I was born and raised in Heerhugowaard (interspersed with a few years abroad). No lovely zigzaglines there. Just boring tower blocks and row houses. And a lot of concrete. So glad I got out of there as soon as I turned 18.

And now, after stints in Maastricht, Japan, Amsterdam and Apeldoorn, I reside in Groningen province, close to the sea. Not distracted by ugliness, although not distracted by immense beauty as well (alas). We have to turn inwards for that, don't we?

  15. looooove how you opened and ended the post with the same picture -- one with the left foot taking a step, the other with the right. brilliant way to capture a walk!

barcelona -- someday! barcelona, montreal and tokyo were on my top must-see cities list... i made it to montreal earlier this year so i guess barcelona is next?

  16. I LOVE the shoe shots and I keep forgetting that you are from Spain - good reminder. You have the best of both worlds there, old and new. xo

  17. I love Barcelona. It's one of the most beautiful vibrant cities I've ever visited. I didn't want to leave. You are SO lucky to live there. Great pics . . . love the way you interspersed the pics with shots of your feet walking, walking . . .

  20. I kind of hate it when I'm right, but in this case the result is excellent.

Just got my braces, so at the moment heerhugowaard is a tongue twister (or rather mouth twister) for me too...
