corner view - evening (and tomorrow a belated "home corners")

Hideous massive shop at the end of my canal (how posh does that sound "my canal") selling lamps of all kinds, but mainly tacky candelabra. It is located atop a not-in-the-least-less-hideous (but handy at the mo) DIY shop and I suspect it belongs to the same owners. When you've gone past all the screws and toilet fittings in the shop below, you suddenly find a scary garden and decoration corner that would marvelously match and complement the candelabra sold upstairs (think fake quasi-Roman marble-like cheap cast busts and fake grass mats.)

Anyway, when evening comes, it actually looks rather pretty. From the other side of the canal.
Now the DIY shop just added some red lighting to advertise fireworks and similar exploding fare for New Years' Eve (yes, traditional here, a pain, if you ask me), the effect on the water's even better.
On second thoughts, a bit red-light-district-ish, this being the 'Dam and all. Oh well. I like those lights.

I will try and update tomorrow with some pics of the old place, the new place and the move. Too knackered now. Boo hoo. Ninja Power, where 'ave you gone? But... For more evening views, check spain daily out. Loads to see there!

  1. Beautiful reflections ;-) The night often make things look a little prettier (or scarier) doesn't it? Probably because you can't see things that clearly...haha!

  3. Very funny and witty as usual. And I feel exactly the same about the exploding fare on New Years' Eve.

  11. it looks cool! what an amazing night time view.

i have a red lamp. bought in ikea, thought it looked cute, but seriously...the red light was just wayyyy too red. for my bedroom at least. so now it functions as a night lamp between the boys' rooms. i can see it from the living room, and call it red light district.

  14. Even tacky shops look go in Amsterdam - love the sarcasm though - I'm there with ya ... and the explosions, I agree, my cats and I can do without them!

Hey "missy" - don't fret about current low energy. Be nice to the ninja - you have a lot on your plate. We'll be here...
