cv - someone else's miniature worlds

Why, hello there. Long time, no corner view.
(Okay, I exaggerate. Just a couple of weeks, which, actually, is how it works out best for me. On a fortnightly basis.)

I find this week's theme, miniature worlds, soopa doopa, I have to say. It was chosen by this Missy here and I cannot wait to see what people have come up with.
More here, at Jane's. But, you know the drill...

Right, down to business.
I've been following this guy for a while and I totally adore his work (on the right, on my list of links.) Most of his stories bring a smile to my face, certain ones make me really giggle while, some others are a tad darker, moodier and twisted. However, all in all, I always enjoy them.
They used to be set mostly in London, but these little people have been travelling a bit of lately.
I stumbled into his book being a recommended "read" in a bookshop in my neighbourhood yesterday. That confirmed that rather than wrecking my brains trying to be creative for this cv, I just had to showcase Slinkachu's miniature world here. (Not that he needs showcasing, but hey, you know what I mean.)
So, little people, a tiny street art project, it is.

Those are some of my faves. The last one's "dreary" Barcelona. Ha!

  4. Brilliant. I just got lost in his world of little people. The first installation you chose - what brings us together and what keeps us apart - was set up in this country (along with the coke can one which is probably my favorite - you are here is not bad either ... I think I'll just have to check out all of the installations!)

  8. Me encanta.

I realized it after reading this post here. I Love Barcelona!!!

  27. okay. stop the accolades, the platitudes. this is not the bloody oscars and la ninja will not tolerate that sort of behaviour.

hey, ct, I've checked it out and it is indeed pretty impressive and miniature doesn't even start to describe wigan's work, man. it's proper microscopic sculpture. bijna eng, zelfs.

however, what I like about slinkachu's work is the street bit of it, making his little people live in real street scenes and the stories you start imagining in your head (you know, those stories in my head, together with all those voices I'm already regularly hearing and, hey presto, it's like bloody bollywood in there! :)

  34. That's so cool! When you think about it, we're just like them when you look at us next to the hugeness of outer space.

  35. This reminds me of a story about when aliens from another planet landed on earth, but somebody trod on them, so nobody noticed. There is no scale in infinity.

  36. I just have to give you that, ian: you deliver the best one liners preceded by the most impressive nonchalance.
